Tenant engagement — Detect & Protect Limited

Detect & Protect Limited took part in a tenant engagement day ahead of a major retrofit scheme, following an invitation from our client and the local council. The event gave residents an opportunity to meet members of our team and learn more about the planned fire safety improvements.

Craig Derbyshire, Darren Coleman and Pete Holland attended, explaining the scope of work and answering questions about the systems to be introduced.

Explaining the planned fire safety improvements

The proposed works include residential sprinkler systems, fire alarms and evacuation and life-safety systems. Our demonstration helped residents understand the package and provided a starting point for questions about what the work would involve.

Giving people the opportunity to discuss a project directly with the delivery team can make technical information more accessible. It also helps us understand the concerns residents may have before installation begins.

Communication is part of retrofit planning

Work in existing residential buildings needs to be planned with the people using those buildings in mind. Residents want to understand why improvements are being introduced, what activities are planned and how the team intends to minimise disruption.

Tenant engagement provides a useful setting for those conversations. It allows the project team to explain the planned approach, listen to questions and establish a clear basis for further communication as the programme develops.

Working with clients, councils and residents

Our team’s contribution formed part of the wider engagement arranged by the client and council. We thank both organisations for inviting us to take part and appreciate the residents who took the time to discuss the works with us.

At Detect & Protect, we see clear communication and practical installation planning as connected parts of a retrofit project. We aim to bring both to the schemes we deliver, from early discussions through to commissioning and handover.
