Detect & Protect Limited has secured assisted living retrofit schemes in Ipswich for our long-standing client, Mulalley. The appointment follows months of planning, design development and coordination to bring the different elements of the package together.
The schemes combine residential sprinklers with fire alarm and evacuation systems, alongside the enabling and supporting works needed to deliver a coordinated installation.
One team coordinating a broad installation package
Our scope brings together a range of specialist activities, including:
- Residential sprinkler systems and Pendock pipe boxing.
- Bespoke external GRP pump houses from Dutypoint.
- Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems.
- Fire stopping and core drilling.
- Fire alarm systems to the specified BS 5839 Part 1 and Part 6 requirements.
- Evacuation systems.
- Electrical works and water supplies.
- Contract crane lifts and full project management.
Managing these activities as a combined package helps maintain a clear view of the interfaces between systems. It also supports planning around access, equipment installation and the sequence of work within the existing buildings.
Building on our retrofit delivery experience
Darren Coleman will manage the Ipswich schemes, bringing experience from our Lewisham retrofit project into the new works. Continuity of project management helps us carry practical lessons from one scheme into the next.
Jamie Hewitt and Pete Holland have also played an important role in the planning and technical work that supported the appointment. Their input has helped develop the package through the stages leading to the award.
A continuing partnership with Mulalley
We appreciate Mulalley’s continued trust in Detect & Protect. Repeat work gives our teams the opportunity to build on established ways of working, while adapting the delivery approach to the needs of each new project.
For assisted living retrofit schemes, clear coordination matters throughout design, installation, commissioning and handover. We look forward to supporting the project team as these fire safety improvements are delivered.
